Sweeper, gully truck, combo unit and tankers

The right vehicle for the job.

Different work needs a different vehicle. Here is each one in our fleet: what it looks like, what is inside it, how it works and the jobs we send it to.

You do not have to pick. This is how we match the vehicle to the work pack.

Road sweeper

Jetting, desilting and vacuum work can leave silt on the road. The sweeper follows the crew so the carriageway and footway are handed back clean.

Type
Road sweeper
Leaves
A clean road

We send it when

  • Silt, mud or debris left on the carriageway after a shift
  • Kerb lines and channels that need clearing before handback
  • Sites where a clean road is part of the permit

How it works

  1. The channel brush pulls debris out of the kerb line, with water sprays keeping the dust down.
  2. The wide sweep brush carries everything under the truck across to the nozzle.
  3. The suction nozzle lifts it off the road.
  4. Debris drops into the hopper. A screen keeps it out of the fan.
  5. The fan creates the suction and sends the cleaned air out through the roof.

18 tonne DAF gully truck

The compact one. Small enough for residential streets, with its own suction boom and wash down water for chambers and gullies.

Gross weight
18 tonnes
Chassis
DAF

We send it when

  • JRC chambers and joint boxes full of silt and standing water
  • Road gullies and smaller chambers
  • Tight streets where a larger tanker will not fit

How it works

  1. The boom swings the suction hose over the open chamber and lowers it in.
  2. Silt and water are drawn up into the waste compartment at the rear of the tank.
  3. A vacuum pump takes the air out of the tank. That is what creates the suction.
  4. A separate clean water compartment feeds the wash down hose.

Scania JHL combination unit

Our most capable unit. It jets a run and vacuums the debris out at the same time, and it has the suction for deep work.

Chassis
Scania
Body
JHL
Does
Jet and vac

We send it when

  • Deep and two stage manholes
  • High suction vacuum excavation around live services
  • Heavy silt, where the run has to be jetted and emptied in one visit

How it works

  1. The jetting hose runs off the reel on the rear door and down into the run.
  2. The telescopic boom places the large suction hose at the bottom of the chamber.
  3. Loosened silt and water are lifted into the waste side of the tank.
  4. The other side of the tank carries the clean water for jetting.
  5. A high pressure pump drives that water to the nozzle.

18,000 litre tanker

Bulk capacity on a rigid chassis. It takes water and waste away so the jetting crew can keep working instead of stopping to tip.

Capacity
18,000 L
Chassis
Rigid

We send it when

  • A job producing more water and waste than a jetter can carry
  • Support for CCTV drainage and jetting teams
  • Flooded chambers that need emptying before work can start

How it works

  1. A suction hose couples to the valve at the rear and drops into the chamber.
  2. The barrel fills from the rear. Baffles stop the load surging when the tanker moves.
  3. The vacuum pump takes air out of the barrel, so the liquid is pushed up the hose.
  4. Sight glasses on the rear door show the level.

27,000 litre tanker

The largest in the fleet, carrying half as much again as the 18,000 litre tanker. For the biggest volumes and the longest shifts.

Capacity
27,000 L
Chassis
Articulated

We send it when

  • Large volumes, such as flooded sites and long runs
  • Long shifts, where trips to tip would stop the job
  • Several crews feeding one tanker

How it works

  1. A suction hose couples to the valve at the rear and drops into the chamber.
  2. The barrel holds half as much again as the 18,000 litre tanker, shown as the dashed outline.
  3. The vacuum pump takes air out of the barrel, so the liquid is pushed up the hose.
  4. Sight glasses on the rear door show the level.
